The Young Learner Summer Program in Ireland (ages 10–17) is an educational initiative by Future Learning that combines English language learning with an integrated STEAM+AI curriculum. The program is hosted across multiple locations, including Dublin, Athlone, and Galway in Ireland.
The program utilizes a pedagogical model focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics, and Artificial Intelligence to build 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, creative problem-solving, collaboration, and communication.
Students participate in hands-on afternoon workshops led by subject experts. Key categories and examples include:
- Science & Technology: Activities such as extracting DNA from food, exploring food science through baking, and interactive robotics workshops using Arduino and MBots.
- Maths & Engineering: Practical tasks like building functional lamps and LED photo frames, as well as „Construction Challenges“ involving bridges and towers to learn physics principles like structural integrity.
- The Arts: Creative sessions including digital photography and editing, music production and songwriting, and drama performances where students script and record original productions.
- Artificial Intelligence: Cutting-edge workshops in AI branding, video creation, chatbot development, and virtual world exploration using VR headsets.
Beyond the classroom, the program includes:
- Evening Activities: Social sessions designed for student interaction and engagement.
- Weekend Excursions: Guided group visits to explore regional landmarks and cultural sites in Ireland.
